TEEN FILM PEEPS
TO APPEAR AT L.A. INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FILM FESTIVAL |
||||
The edgy political film about teen street rhymers, Peeps, is showing this Sunday, December 11, 2005 at 5:30 p.m. with the first Los Angeles International Children’s Film Festival at the Autry Museum in Glendale, California. The annual festival will be covered by The Los Angeles Times and local television news. Fresh faces include actors Caroline Choi, who appeared last month on the hit TV sitcom Joey, and Erik Davies, appearing in the upcoming feature The Flock alongside Claire Danes and Richard Gere. Only one month after its completion in March 2005, Peeps was selected to world premiere with Dances With Films on May 12, 2005 at Laemmle Theaters in Los Angeles. The annual festival was covered by Variety, LA Weekly, AP newswire and local television stations. Peeps then screened its Northwest US premiere at Forest Grove International Film Festival on June 12, 2005, at the Forest Theater in Forest Grove, Oregon. During July and August, Peeps’ producers considered three distribution offers before deciding to continue exhibiting. After inclusion with the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films Market in September, Peeps scored again, screening at the Cinelux and Granada theaters in Morgan Hill in California’s Silicon Valley for the Poppy Jasper Film Festival on November 11 and 12. The filmmaker was interviewed for local television and newspapers. This is writer/director/actor Tom DeMar’s first completed film. He is currently in post with his second film, a documentary, and writing a political thriller feature. Peeps is a political worldview seen through the eyes of high school seniors and a teacher in a career crisis. The multiethnic, coming-of-age story features original music, street talk and hip hop dance, especially enjoyable for both young women and men ages 15 to 25. www.imdb.com/title/tt0464145/ www.thaPeeps.com |
