They emulate the culture, listen to the music, and some try to dance it. What could possibly move millions of teens around the world to turn off their iPods and Playstations and turn on a television show or movie? Hip hop. Is it on The O.C.? Nope. Was it on Dawson's Creek? Nada. How about Friends? Now let's get real. We're onto something. Peeps is the first and only short film to fuse hip hop into the world of everyday characters. Not just a few words like "dude" or "bro." We're talking real street rhymes. Original music. Original hip hop choreography. These characters are not gangsta, just kids down the street. This is what young people relate to. It's how they live and breathe. Peeps is not the idealized youth parents remember when they turn on the TV or go to the movies. This is not for them. Heck, they won't even understand it. Peeps is for teens. If you're over 25, forget it. What would parents have to say about Peeps, then? It's a positive message. A coming-of-age story about communication and a deeper understanding. It's about the value of friendship and a sense of purpose. It's about the beauty of song and dance. It sure is good to be young again. Watch Peeps with a young friend! |
